i tried the ews64 under linux 2 or 3 years ago, and with my few knowledge didn't get the sam9407 drivers of gerd rausch working. to get some sound anyway, i initialized the ews in dos and then i started linux using that dos boot program, which worked fine (although i had to build my own kernel, so it wasn't that easy, too).
the 6fire should be less complicated, any linux driver for the ice envy 24 chip should work (although i didn't try, so i just assume that).
